A general guide to cleansing, charging, and programming magical artifacts.
While planning and carrying out a powerful ritual has its place, sometimes you just need magic that’s small and simple. Of course, depending on your path, there’s a thousand different ways to do the same thing. Solomonic magicians may turn to the planetary pentacles, kitchen witches have bottle spells, and chaos magicians (along with much of Tumblr) rely on sigils for a quick fix. Portable magic is uniquely convenient, and often one of the more subtle forms of magic one can do, so it greatly appeals to beginners! Unfortunately, it’s easy for more experienced practitioners to gloss over some of the magical processes used to create them, so it’s hard to know if you’re doing it “right” when just starting out. Hopefully, this will help explain some of the more intuitive components of crafting charms, amulets, and the like to beginners. This guide is secular and does not make use of any particular belief system.
