I begin my journey to build a golem today. After waking up today i thought of something that happened long ago. My grandmother had a large clay golem in her house, on the Italian country side. Growing up I’d often see it and speak with it. It resembled a strong man, thick fingers and a slouched back. Often we’d wake up and find it in odd poses. Standing straight, or inches from it’s stand, scratches and chips on his hard clay skin. One day we awoke to find it gone. All that was left was a pile of clay and dust just outside the door. I began my journey by bouncing ideas off my pears and recalled the Jewish golem story. With that in mind i called upon my knowledge of spirit dolls, They act as anchors for a spirit. I wanted something more. Much like shrunken heads i wanted my golem to house a spirit. i wanted a new body for the spirit. Reincarnation. The rules of necromancy state that spirits should never be forced into new flesh, i understood this very well. The golem is to be part of the spirit, an extension. Unlike dolls which are representations of spirits, bound to spirits or may hold parts of one. I began drafting out a symbol for the golem’s forehead, like “אֱמֶת” or “emeth” which was what was written on the torah golem’s head. I chose “vie” or “life” in French and found numeric values for each letter. I set my expectations for this golem to be reasonable. I do not expect it to move, or talk. I expect it to become part of a spirit, a window through the veil that will take me to a spirit who is loyal and willing to work with me. Above you will find a picture of the cemetery clay i will be using, i broke down my mask and will be grinding the clay to dust to make an enhanced clay to create the golem. The new clay will contain 95% lamb blood, 5% of my own and bone dust. Feel free to make suggestions.
