There is a difference between ‘cleansing’ an item and disenchanting it, at least in my book. Psychic and magical dust and grime can get all over objects, especially if they are meant to soak up negative energies or emotions. Cleansing such an item is a removal of unwanted energies, while still leaving the item magically functional. Disenchanting an item is to remove the magic from it altogether, possibly while still retaining the energies within it.
I do not believe all items can be disenchanted. Consider the innate attributes of herbs and stones. You cannot ‘disenchant’ these away from the physical item - that is its nature, not a spell. Likewise some physical objects were crafted specifically to carry magic. It is in their nature to be magical, and they cannot stop being magical, because the magic is intertwined with their physical form.
If the entire enchantment is contained within the item, all you need is the item. Flame is good at destruction and transformation, so it is best if you can have a lit candle or access to natural fire energy such as the Sun. If this is not possible, try conjuring the elemental energy of Fire within yourself, or obtain a destructive source of energy.
If there is any physical markings on the object which are part of the enchantment, remove them. This may include sanding off paint or destroying part of the object. I do not personally believe just covering the markings up will be enough. Then focus on the enchantment itself. Call it to you so that you feel you are in control of it. Announce to the object that it no longer needs the enchantment - it is done. Command the magical programming to go in to the flames or destructive forces you have with you. Burn the enchantment away. Continue your focus until you feel that the object lies empty in your hands.
