“An’ it harm none, do what thou wilt.”
Hello! This is a quick little guide on making yourself a self care sachet. This can be used by anyone, but is centered around aiding those with long term mental health issues such as depression or anxiety.
They
are basically a little promise you are making to yourself. Whether that
be to remember to feel less anxiety over doing daily activities such as
washing or brushing your teeth or just a reminder to not be so hard on
yourself and to drink more hot chocolate, it’s up to you what you pick.
The idea is to pick a purpose that cares for you in a positive way. I’ve
been making these recently and they have really helped me. As the
process is quite beginner friendly I thought I’d share! You will need:
Herbs of your choice (Optional)
Small crystal (Optional)
Tissue paper (ordinary paper if you lack tissue paper)
scissors
A lighter/matches
Tape OR string
pen
ordinary paper/leaf
1. Write your intent down.
Some examples of intent: “I try my best to eat regular meals” “I am able
to stay calm outside of my room” “I allow myself to enjoy a hot
chocolate”.
Create a sigil out of your statement and write it down on another piece of paper or a leaf.
Read your statement out loud and will all of your energy into visualising it coming to fruition.
Burn the piece of paper/ the leaf and collect the ashes.
2. Gather your materials.
Cut a small square to make your sachet with from your tissue paper.
Add
each of your chosen herbs to the middle. (I chose lavender for
peace/anxiety, sage for wisdom and cleansing and dried dandelions picked
in beltane for positivity and energy)
Add your crystal.
Close the sachet by either taping it or tying it together with a piece of string.
3. Hold the sachet in your hands.
Again,
visualise all of your positive thoughts and good energy flowing through
your arms down into the sachet. Kiss it, if that’s your thing.
You
are done! Carry the sachet with you in your pocket, put it under your
pillow, do whatever you want with it. Hope you have a nice day c:
If you draw a sigil on your skin, what do you think the best way to activate/charge it would be? :)
“Best”
is not really a term I like to use for witchcraft anymore. Because
different things work for different people (even the same methods can
produce different results), there aren’t any surefire methods that are
guaranteed to be awesome for every single magic user - it comes down to
what you have access to, and what you want to do. Experimentation is
important to find out what works for you. :)
I like to draw
sigils on the pulse points - so the ideal one being the wrist - and let
the natural flow of blood through the body charge the sigil. It’s sort
of like blood magic to me, but without needing to remove it from the
body. The energy from the blood is still what charges the sigil, though
it’s more about the movement I guess.
You could also kiss sigils
drawn on yourself - if you can reach where you drew it, of course. xD
Blowing air on a sigil can also prove beneficial.
Another idea is
tracing the design with the index finger of your dominant hand, and with
this you can channel energy into it from yourself or drawing it in from
external sources.
If it’s warm and sunny where you are, you can
expose the sigil to sunlight and have it charge with that potent energy.
This technique can be applied with the moon as well.
If you’re
okay trying methods involving pain, pinch the sigil, or snap an elastic
band on it. My favorite idea for a charging method like this was drawing
the sigil on the heel of the foot, then putting a small pebble in your
show, and stepping on it. Boom, physical energy and pain. Of course,
these methods aren’t necessary, just options.
Even washing the
sigil away can charge it - destruction methods still apply. Use charged
water (like moon water) for an added boost.
I hope that gives you some ideas! Good luck!
These can be used for baths, hot teas or ciders, potpourri, or
witchcraft! The process is extremely simple, and makes the entire house
smell nice and fresh (which is also a good way to cleanse and banish
negative energies in the home, as I’ve noticed). You can also do this
with lemons, it’s the same process and the same usage!
The process:
-Get a large amount of healthy oranges with unblemished skin. Be sure to
wash the oranges and scrub them lightly, because they are often coated
with lots of germs and pesticides, which you REALLY don’t want on your
dried product!
-Peel them however you wish, I find it easier to
peel the entire orange in a giant coil shape, and then cut that coil to
whatever sized pieces that I want my end result to be. Keep in mind that
bigger pieces will be easier to strain out of whatever you use these
in, so shaving them extremely tiny isn’t very convenient.
-Set
your oven to it’s lowest setting, preferably around 200°. Place an
aluminum foil sheet over a cookie tray, and generously arrange your
peels on the foil. You don’t have to wait until the oven is completely
heated, just stick them in there.
-The key is to expose them to
low heat for a long period of time, which I’ve estimated to be about an
hour and a half. Turning up the heat higher in an attempt to make the
process faster will result in a few scorched pieces instead of lightly
browned and crisped. You’ll know they’re ready when you can pinch one in
the middle and it won’t give at all. Don’t be afraid to stir them
around a bit so they all can get even amounts of heat exposure.
-While you’re waiting for them to finish, you can cut open the peeled oranges, and either juice them or slice them for eating!
Voila, now you know what to do with those orange rinds that people often throw away! ๐
So I thought I would make a jar of mermaid dust to bring along with me wherever I go, also to put in my travel altar!
The point of it is to feel like I always have a little bit of the beach/ocean with me, as well as feeling close to my kin! ๐ฌ So here’s what’s in it:
✯(dry) beach sand
✯crushed various seashells I found myself
✯sea salt
✯incense ash
✯(dry) seaweed How I made it:
✯spend a day at the beach ๐
✯crush
the seashells with either a mortar if you have one, or just use a rock
(please be careful you get all the pieces as they could give you a nasty
scrape on the foot if you step on it!)
✯mix in the sand, shell pieces, salt, ashes and seaweed (I bought mine at the grocery store!)
✯seal with wax if needed, or if you have a jar with a cork like mine, you’re good to go!
Happy swimming (: ๐๐ฌ๐ Bonus: if you’re an Extra Sea Witch™, use a sea shell to scoop out your ingredients! final product!
๐make sure to move them to bigger pots as they grow, so they don’t get root-bound.
๐Collect a little rain water now and then, instead of only giving them tap water. It’s fresh and Makes them happy!
๐ตDon’t buy plants that might be glued into pots. Home Depot, Lowest,
and Walmart are bad about doing that to cacti and succulents and it can
stunt and/or kill them.
๐บSame goes to those cacti with little flowers. A lot of those are glued to them.
๐ฟTalk to them! Turning carbon dioxide into oxygen is part of their job and helps keep them healthy and strong!
๐พNot all plant fertilizer is good for plants, some can overbear them
and cause wilting and/or death, try compost if you’re able, or at least
research brands and your plants.
๐ฑSome plants thrive in dark soil, some light soil, and some like
mostly rocks! Be sure to know what environment your plant can and can’t
be in to suit your home and lifestyle!
Aries: You can build a life, but not with the
dust and people of your past. You deserve a better future, you just
have to let go of the monsters you keep trying to call your friend. You
deserve more.
Taurus: This is only temporary. You will not be stuck in this place
forever. This moment is only temporary. I know that you can get past
this. Just please don’t give in to the monotone.
Gemini: Build your walls. Protect yourself from everyone you know is
toxic. Because even if you miss them more then air they are still
poison and you still need to stay far the fuck away from them.
Cancer: Learn to control your vices instead of letting them control
you. You’re not fooling anyone, we can see your act. It’s okay to hurt
and it’s okay to break you don’t have to hide yourself away in a fucking
bottle every night.
Leo: Sometimes you have to let some things go. Let some goals go.
Because you need to come first above all the other bullshit. And some
things are impossible. You’ll kill yourself trying to get to them all.
Virgo: Try and find who you use to be. If you put it in the pipe or
hide it in the bottle of pills. You’re still a good person. I still see
that maybe there is something to be redeemed in your eyes. Please tell
me you see it to.
Libra: Sometimes they’ll get closure before you. They can’t decide
what harm their actions do. Just because they’ve said their sorry
doesn’t mean you need to accept their apology. Tell them to fuck off and
dust the dirt off your knees.
Scorpio: Do not isolate yourself. Do not pull and hide yourself away
from this beautiful world. There is so much more then those 4 walls that
you keep yourself in. Come, it’s time to explore them.
Sagittarius: Enjoy what you can get out of something and move on. If
it doesn’t serve you anymore, it doesn’t belong in your life. Which is
fine, even though it hurts. Nothing is perfect but there at least needs
to be some kind of balance.
Capricorn: It’s not a contest of who got more bruises or who has
more emotional trauma. It isn’t a war against others who are suffering.
Your pain is still valid even if you are only drowning in a few inches
of water and they have a sea. You are both still drowning.
Aquarius: Breathe. Do not let the chaos consume you. This world is
going to try and kill you. It is trying to kill you. But you are better
then that. You still have all the pieces you need. Just learn to put
them together and make armor.
Pisces: It’s okay to let go at some point. It’s okay to let yourself
slip up every once in awhile. Relapse can be a huge part of recovery.
Pick yourself up, know it isn’t day 0 just cause it feels like it, and
keep going. You’ve made too much progress to give up.
Without
water, we wouldn’t survive - plain and simple. In terms of magick, the
element of water is psychic and cleansing, and it is used in so many
ways - we drink it, we wade through it, we bathe in it, we feel its
freshness as it falls from the sky, we use it to assist in the growth of
our plants, and we are made up of it ourselves. Water is love and it is
life… a feminine element, it is soothing, purifying, and healing… Water
is the essence of all things.
♡
Water in Magick
♡
Here is a mini guide to the use of water and its correspondences in witchcraft practices!
GODDESSES:Aphrodite, Yemaya, Mari, Isis, Mariamne, Tiamat. GODS:Dylan, Neptune, Manannan, Poseidon, Osiris. DIRECTION:West. COLOR: Blue. USAGE IN RITUALS: Purification, psychic awareness, relationships, dreams, peace. SENSE:Taste. HERBS:Water lilies, succulents, seaweed, flowers in general. STONES: Transparent and/or translucent minerals // crystals. (Aquamarine, amethyst, etc). MAGICK TOOLS/OBJECTS:Chalice, seashells, cauldron… and - you guessed it- water!
♡
The Water Signs ♡
The water signs - Scorpio, Pisces, and Cancer - are
the most “feeling” of all the signs. Much like water itself, these
signs are deep. More often than not, any of these three signs will base
their actions on emotions, rather than intellect and logic. While their
ability to feel so deeply can mean they’re more prone to brooding and
mood swing episodes, it also means they are very compassionate and
understanding. They have a deep desire for aesthetic beauty, and a deep
desire to help others. Water signs are naturally empathetic and
receptive… Their natural abilities in the areas of both psychic
practices and romance flow as easily as the river.
1. Book Of Shadows-
A witch’s book of spells, rituals, personal feelings, etc. It is a
general book for any metaphysical or religious information that you wish
to put into it, among other things.
2.Bestiary- A
sometimes hand-written encyclopedia or manual of mythological and
magical creatures and beings, used for reference when you want to work
with a non-human energy, or for general research.
3.Grimoire-
Usually filled with tables and charts, lists relating to astrological,
numerical, and color correspondences; properties of crystals, herbs,
trees, etc. Contains moon phase meanings and medicinal properties of
plants- This one has an old-timey textbook feel to it, usually.
4.Book Of Mirrors-
a special journal, where you ‘reflect’ on things going on in your day
to day life, providing deep insights which are invaluable when you’re
doing work regarding personal growth. Very helpful with developing
personal spiritual philosophies.
5.Book Of Moons- A book
entirely relating to the moon and it’s cycles, names of the moons of
each month, their attributes and energies, dates of lunar eclipses as
well as full moon dates of upcoming moons. Filled with vast knowledge of
lunar attributes and special dates of red moons, blue moons, etc.
6.Dream Journal-
Here you record the dreams you have in as much detail as you can
remember, and some people draw images from their dream adventures in
this book as well, since dreams use the language of symbolism and
imagery. You interpret the meanings of your dreams in here too, if you
wish. Dreams can help us get a glimpse into our subconscious and the
more dreams you write the easier it becomes for you to remember them.
7. Book of Visions-
A vision book is used with the law of attraction, it is a ‘vision
board’ in book form. Put different images of things you want in life, be
they experiences, physical items, money, health, etc, in the pages of
the book. Open the book up to pictures of what you want to visualize
having. Think of this as an on-the-go vision board, except with much
more space as there are so many pages!
8.Book Of Positive Aspects-
At the top of each page you write the name of a topic that you are
unhappy with, like ‘the workplace’ for example. Below the topic title
you begin listing all the positive aspects of the subject, and by the
end of your list your emotions will be in a much better place regarding
the topic. You can do a list a day or many in one sitting, it is a
valuable tool for cultivating positive energy or for switching
viewpoints on things that normally would upset you.
9.Gratitude Journal-
A book where you write about EVERYTHING you are thankful and
appreciative for in your life right now. You feel overwhelmed with love
and positivity when writing in this book, which aids you in raising your
vibration and frequency.
10. Book Of Intuitions- a psychic
journal, it’s a book where all divination and psychic exercises are
recorded, ranging from full tarot spreads, to tea leaf readings, even
psychic impressions you pick up off people. It’s handy for tracking
progress as well as for record keeping.

The
first house or sign on the ascendant radiates potently across the
zodiac spectrum. The star rising in the eastern horizon rises in the
individual’s eyes, it’s the cosmic starburst we give others to taste.
There is a spiritual emphasis with the first house. It symbolises the
the soul’s dance as an ego, it’s ultimate expression. Self emanation,
awareness, and identification becomes activated in the first house. It’s
the light in the eye, and a deeply personal experience, diffused
spontaneously and without hesitation. The twelfth house is where we
hide, but we step into the sun of the first house and come to life.
The
first house qualities are like the hospital band you were given at
birth. Astrologers consider the first house of significant importance,
noting it’s angular house condition in our outlook and approach to life.
Through the planetary interplays of the first house, we paint an “I”,
and every dimension of life passes through this spectrum. Everybody has a
sign on the first house cusp known as the ascending sign. Some people
have a planet, or multiple planets in the first house, and these provide
the colours that create the expression.
Sun in the 1st house / Leo ascending royal
and important, and the birth was deemed to be of significant importance
because the individual knows he has a divine purpose on earth. there
can be dominance, enthusiasm, joy, and creativity released here.
Moon in the 1st house / Cancer ascending like
the moon that shows her face and hides away, the individual is
illuminated and yet withdrawn. there is a deep mystery here, and a
tremendous maternal instinct. there may be difficulties with fluid
retention
Mercury in the 1st house / Gemini ascending / Virgo ascending the
bright light in the eye reveals a kindled and alert mind. a youthful
expression emanates the curiosity, spirit, and flaws of the young. there
is a nervous quality about the individual, and an unmissable
intelligence
Venus in the 1st house / Taurus ascending / Libra ascending beauty
seems to diffuse from the individual naturally, like sequins across the
sky. often there is a preoccupation with appearance and a feminine
expression. strong likes and dislikes are indicated here, and there is a
genial amiability that simply breathes warmth and harmony
Mars in the 1st house / Aries ascending like
a firecracker, the individual is impossible to miss. there is a vital,
upfront, and spontaneous sunshine, and often a propensity to reveal
things for how they see them. the individual is absolutely energizing
Jupiter in the 1st house / Sagittarius ascending a
bohemian, free spirited vibe evokes from the individual like incense.
there is a well traveled mind that enjoys novelty and delving into the
meaningful and symbolic dimensions of life. laughter seems to follow
Saturn in the 1st house / Capricorn ascending the
temperament can be melancholic on autopilot, however there is an
incredible depth about the individual that is often too intense for the
world. despite longing to connect, he may feel solitary and followed by
shadows
Uranus in the 1st house / Aquarius rising the
mind is a live wire here and the brightly lit eyes glisten like
crystals, covering an intellect that follows inquisitive and intuitive
leaps into imagination paradise. there is an offbeat individualism
Neptune in the 1st house / Pisces rising every
face of the cosmos is revealed in the individual, there are watery eyes
that hold centuries of wisdom, eyes that seem like they still asleep
and dreaming. the chameleon aspect here is prominent, and the individual
can disappear into faces and energies
Pluto in the 1st house / Scorpio rising powerful
reverence and rays of unconscious secrets hover from the individual and
leave thick, resonant energies long after his body vanishes. there is
something intimidating and yet soothing about the individual, it seems
however, impossible to decode

Take good notes.
Dirty experience/field work is better than reading/book work.
Mkay?
After you’ve done all that, come back and ask about what you still
can’t find. (Trust me, you’ll find most of it, if not all and more.) You
have no fucking excuse to be on Tumblr asking about the basics of
paganism or what such and such plant does for witchcraft, or how to
summon demons. Harassing people for basic knowledge gets you nowhere.
There is so much out there even just online. You do not need the newest,
shiniest books by the most popular authors. You do not need to attack
people when they tell you to go research on your own. The information is
right fucking there. Now go get it.
I
don’t mind answering your questions, but why should I go to the effort
of explaining the basics when you haven’t gone to the effort of
researching it yourself?
Instead of asking “how do I be a witch”,
do some of your own research, and come back and ask me “I’ve found some
conflicting information on X, and this is what I think. What is your
opinion?”
Anything less than that is just laziness.
The
element of fire is a special one - it is powerful in its way of taking
energy from other elements and giving birth to heat, smoke, and light.
It is with fire that we receive warmth and prepare our food, and it is
with fire that we fuel our rituals. While fire is destructive in nature,
this does not have to be a negative thing in terms of magick - this
element is representative of transformation, passion, motivation, and
sexuality. A masculine element, the usage of fire in candle magick can
help break bad habits and bring about healing. There is nothing quite as
powerful as the feelings of both fascination and intimidation while
watching the rising and falling of fire’s warm flames. ♡ Fire in Magick ♡ Here is a mini guide to the use of fire and its correspondences in witchcraft practices! GODDESSES:Pele, Brigit, Vesta.
GODS:
Agni, Horus,Vulcan, Hepaetus, Promtheus.
DIRECTION:South. COLOR: Red. USAGE IN RITUALS: Passion, courage, force, enthusiasm, lust, determination. SENSE:Sight. HERBS:Thistles, seeds, cacti, chili peppers. STONES: Jasper, quartz, amber, fire agate. MAGICK TOOLS/OBJECTS:Candle, sword. ♡ The Fire Signs ♡ The fire signs - Aries, Leo,and Sagittarius -live
up to their fire-y ruling. These signs have a certain zest for life and
an untouchable enthusiasm. When the fire signs are inspired, their
creative drive knows no bounds. However, while they are definitely
skilled in the area of self-sufficiency and posses naturally lively
spirits, it basically goes without saying that the fire signs can find
themselves feeling a bit stubborn if they don’t get their way. Their
personas may come across as quite forceful in these instances, so it is
best not to push them too deep into their assertiveness. That being
said, the fire signs are still so good to have around - you won’t meet
anyone quite as dedicated to their passion for both romance and living
life to its fullest potential.
I
recently did a BUNCH of tarot readings with a deck I hadn’t used in a
while, and by the time I was finished, I could literally just feel my
cards getting irritated and worn out. It was quite a strange sensation,
but I finally felt like I could relate to the “big shot” diviners I
look up to on Tumblr!
I’m going to say that if your cards decide
they’re getting too tired after a certain number of readings, just say
thank you, and put them away. I usually wrap mine up in a black shawl I
have, and set a quartz crystal(for cleansing) and an amethyst(for
psychic gifts and mental acuity) on top of them for a few hours.
Some ways you can bond with a tired deck(or if you just don’t want to do readings atm):
Shuffling absentmindedly
Sleeping with the deck under your pillow
Studying the cards themselves, I.e. the photos on each one
Practice shuffling and drawing cards
Coming up with your own meaning or even stories for each card based on your gut or the pictures
There’s
lots of things you can do that don’t necessarily require actual
readings that might wear out both you and your cards. But the more time
you spend with them, the more in-tune you become with each other, and
the more reliable and clear your readings can become! I would also
suggest doing things not related to the deck itself, like studying tarot
card meanings online, learning how to make your own spreads and finding
spreads online. Learning how to handle your deck can make for a much
more enjoyable experience with it!
Better
picture of my Anti-Migraine Spell bottle. I want to add a few tiny
pieces of amethyst before I seal it up with wax but I love it so far,
even just smelling it helps clear my head.
Hello! I was wondering if you have a Top 10 or something like
that of basic crystals? Soon I think I'm going to buy my first crystals
and I'm not sure which ones buy first. I don't have a lot of money to
buy many. Thanks in advance!
Hey! I can certainly give you some suggestions.
Firstly,
don’t just get some crystals because people online say they’re good
dude! Look around the store, pick the crystals up, see which ones you
are drawn to and which you instantly fall in love with. If you see one
that you have a connection with right away but it’s not one of the
“popular” crystals, don’t be afraid to buy it. They are very personal
things and what doesn’t work for others might just work for you! For
example, my favourite crystals of all time are malachite and moonstone.
Neither see much love as the likes of rose quartz or fluorite, but
they’re still my babies :) You like that shiny rock? You get that shiny
rock.
I won’t list 10 just for the sake of listing 10, but I will mention the first ones that come to mind :) Clear Quartz is
the big daddy of crystals for most people. This is because it is used
to focus and magnify power, as well as absorb it depending on what
you’re doing with it. It is also because it can be used as a substitute
to pretty much any other crystal, making it perfect for beginners. All
you have to do is program it with your desired intent. (Which is very
easy so don’t be intimidated by that) Think of clear quartz like a focus
in a laser pointer. Amethyst is an amazing crystal for
healing work. Most use it to bring calm and combat anxiety, stress or
depression. Very good for combating addictions like smoking or even
drugs. Many also use it to cure migraines. It can be used to aid
disturbed sleep by placing a piece under your pillow. Selenite
is fantastic for work of divination. It is a tool with which many use
to strengthen their psychic and mental abilities. It’s used for work
with guides, spirits, angels and loved ones. I’ve personally used it a
lot in rituals involving moon magic and intuition. It’s very effective
in helping you achieve new levels of perspective as you strengthen and
expand your mind. Amber is technically not a crystal but
worth a mention. It is made from the fossilized resin from coniferous
trees that grew millions of years ago. It’s fantastic for past life and
astral travel work, brings prosperity and a sense of confidence in
challenging environments (work, school, etc) If Amethyst is the crystal
that soothes your stress and depression, think of Amber as the force
that then increases your self worth and gives you the drive to go on. Onyx
is a great go to for work involving protection, absorbing negative
energy, warding off nightmares and being a great tool in magical
defense. I was often told by an ex partner of mine that when she wore
her onyx necklace at night and felt people stare at her, she would focus
on it and they would noticeably lose interest and look away. Nice
little crystal if you’re nervous about travelling. I actually prefer
obsidian for the same purposes but again, obsidian is not a crystal;
it’s volcanic glass. Still mighty strong though ;) Honourable Mentions:
Rose Quartz
Fluorite
Labradorite
Blue Lace Agate
Tigers Eye
Aquamarine
Kyanite
Aventurine
Malachite
‘holey’ stones
Crystals to avoid:
Sadly
in many crystal shops, fake crystals are sold. Most of them are just
glass that’s been dyed or heated until it discolours. Here are some of
the most commonly faked crystals that i’d advise against buying when a
beginner until you are able to distinguish the fake from the real OR
know that your store is super legit.
Citrine
Anything with unnaturally strong colours (Obnoxious pinks and blues)
Ametrine (9 times out of 10 it’s just burnt amethyst)
I
could list so many more crystals and bore you all day but this should
be ok for now! Other people feel free to add what crystals you loved
when you were starting out x)

sadly I can’t fix the parts of your life that drain you or wear you
down. As much as I would love to have the ultimate answer to how to have
that pinterest perfect life I am in the same boat as everyone else. What I can do is show you how to work magic anyway.
You
have to stop relying on your own energy. I know it sounds a little
nuts, energy is literally what magic runs on and now I want you to just
remove it from the equation?! What?
I promise I haven’t lost it
and YES, that’s exactly what I want! Or at least I want you to make
energy way less of a key player in your magic.
I want you to never have to worry about whether or not you have enough energy to work magic ever again.
This
is all explained in detail, including energy work and getting past all
of the things that are stopping your from practicing your craft, in my
new program Old World Witchcraft.
You achieve this by using other sources of energy to fuel your work.
Pulling
energy from other sources is a way to fuel spells when you’re low on
energy yourself or you’re working on something very big that needs more
than you can safely offer.
Basically what you’re doing is finding
an alternative source of energy and channeling the energy you take from
it into your work in much the same way you would channel your own energy
into it. Instead of being the source of energy in this case you’re
simply a conduit, connecting power source to magic and allowing the
entire framework to run without needing your input, only your direction.
The first step in this process is finding a good source.
This source can be anything;
Plants
Animals
Crystals
People
The earth
The moon
etc.
It’s
important to take into consideration that if you’re pulling from a
living source you must ask permission first. It’s usually easiest to
choose a source that you’re comfortable with, if you don’t work with
plants much using plant energy in your magic is going to feel clunky and
unwieldy, stick to what’s familiar.
Once you’ve found a source
it’s time to connect your energy to it. If you’ve ever grounded and
connected your energy to the earth it’s much the same. Take a deep
breath, close your eyes and feel for the energy of your source.
Visualize your energy and the sources energy connecting and mingling
together.
Begin gently pulling the energy from your source into
yourself, it might feel a little odd to do this so be careful during
this process. Often pulling too much energy into yourself can cause some
unpleasant symptoms such as lightheadedness, nausea, and giddiness. For
this reason I suggest you have whatever you’re channeling the energy
into at the ready so you can immediately pass the energy from the
source, through yourself and into your spell.
You do NOT want to use yourself as a holding bay for that energy any more than you absolutely must.
It
can take a bit of practice to get this technique down well enough to be
used in spell work. I would suggest starting with training exercises to
get comfortable before trying to use it for any big spell work.
As
an example, you could try pulling energy from a plant or the earth and
passing it into a stone or crystal and then back again. As you get more
comfortable you can work up to transferring different energies and in
greater quantities.
This technique can be used in a variety of
ways, obviously, as I suggested, it’s good for adding a little extra
power to your spells but it could also be used to store energy for later
spells in crystals or tools. You could use it to heal yourself by
channeling the energy into your own body where there are deficiencies
causing pain or illness. You could even do this in reverse to deactivate
a spell (it’s suggested that you not deactivate a spell by channeling
into a living being, the earth is best in this case).
It’s always a
good idea to thank whatever has leant its energy to you, fertilizing or
watering a plant, cleansing a crystal, picking up litter for the earth,
whatever you can manage to show your thanks and be respectful. After
using this technique it is always advised to finish by grounding
yourself. Moving large amounts of energy can pull your own energy out of
balance leaving you with too much or too little or even leaving residue
of whatever you were moving stuck to your own energy. Plugging into the
earth and allowing your energy to equalize and come back to a balanced
state will prevent any negative side effects. Do you have a better grasp on how to outsource your energy needs? I’d love to hear about it in the comments!
Use
artwork to charge objects. Example: Protection, draw a shield, you’ll
be concentrating really hard the entire time your drawing, charging it
with intent then set the item in moonlight over night to charge.
✨Drinking
iced raspberry tea infused with rose petals, or a pumpkin spice latte
for the cinnamon allspice and clove but also just because you really
like it
✨Power songs played during the morning commute and singing
as loud as you can without worrying about other drivers seeing you,
getting yourself fired up for the day
✨Banishing spells cast on toxic lovers and friends, because even though it hurts to let them go it also feels freeing as hell
✨Self
cleansing rituals that make you feel recharged, whether it be fancy
ritual baths, or that good smelling face wash that you use every morning
✨Wrapping
yourself in the love of friends and family deity when you’re not
feeling up to it yourself, they will love you no matter what so relying
on them is okay and good
✨Going to a secret spot to be alone, or
to watch the world go by and just be still, from a secret pond miles
into the forest, to the quiet spot by the window in your favorite cafe
✨Protection
spells cast before going out drinking and dancing to keep off the
creeps and their unwanted advances, because you just wanna dance and
that’s the last thing you need
So,
I’ve noticed a lot of newbie tarot readers don’t know what a
significator is. Long, winding definitions short, it’s a tarot card
that signifies something. It could be you, it could be an event, anything significant.
It’s usually a Court or Major Arcana card, but not always. There’s no
set rule on how to choose a significator for yourself, but here’s
several ways you can discover it:
A card that just won’t stop popping up in readings,
even for other people. It may not even seem to fit in their reading! If
this is the case, check the card’s meaning–be it your own
interpretation or the original RW (Rider-Waite) meaning. See if you
connect with it–with a Major Arcana, it would be a
meaning that has something to do with you in that point in time (The
Hermit for someone on a soul vacation; Justice for someone who has to
act as a mediator to find a balance between people etc). If it’s a Court
card, check that meaning too (The Queen of Cups for someone loving,
nurturing, and empathetic, with a strong love for the creative arts;
very relaxed and go-with-the-flow). It could also be a regular old Ace through Ten, in which case check to see if that card holds any significance in your life at the moment.
Meditate
on the deck for a while and shuffle it for a time, wondering about what
your significator might be and focusing on the various cards. Take a
deep breath and trust your intuition when you feel it’s right to stop
shuffling. When you do, draw 3-5 cards but don’t use a spread. Instead,
lay them out and start to puzzle them out, how they interconnect, what
your deck is trying to tell you about your significator. Sometimes it’ll
be in the drawn cards themselves, others you have to think about how
they connect as a whole to form the meaning of your significator card.
And finally, trust your intuition.
It’s not exactly necessary to have a significator card, and often
people change and so do their significators. It’s a constantly evolving
card, just as your experiences shape you. If you just got your deck in
the mail yesterday, focus on getting to know your deck more rather than
going into specifics. You’ll often find the answer will be apparent to
you in time :)
If you have any questions or need
advice when it comes to tarot, send me an ask and I will help you in any
way I can! :) Good luck and happy shuffling!
I see a lot of posts circulating about interpreting card
reversals, and just wanted to share this helpful mnemonic devised by
Benebell Wen.
When a reversal shows up in one of your readings, remember this acronym to think about the possible meanings.
WIND: Weakened energy of card meaning - are other forces overpowering the card’s energy or preventing it from manifesting? Inverted (or opposite) meaning of card - this one’s self explanatory. Negative influence
on Seeker - is this energy hindering rather than helping the Seeker? Is
there someone in the Seeker’s life who embodies these traits? Delay before
the card’s outcome will materialize - does the Seeker need to take
additional steps before the card’s energy will manifest? Or is it simply
a matter of “wait and see”?
As requested, here’s a numerology chart with quick descriptions of numbers 1-10* and the corresponding Major Arcana** cards.
Having
a basic understanding of numerology can help you learn and remember the
meanings of card, and can provide some additional context if a number
shows up multiple times in a given reading.
*Some will reduce 10
to 1 + 0 = 1 instead of assigning meaning to the number 10. There is
some merit to both methods; in a way, the “end of a cycle” is the chance
for a new beginning afterwards.
**For Major Arcana cards 11 - 21,
reduce down by adding the digits. For example The Star, #17, would be
reduced to 1 + 7 = 8. The Fool is generally assigned to #1 even though
it’s numbered as 0. I personally associate the Fool with the Aces in the
Minor Arcana, so it makes sense to group them together in numerology.
Learning the Court Cards is difficult for a lot of us, but I’ve found
that elemental associations have made it much easier to understand and
remember the personality traits of Court Cards.
Suit Associations:
Wands - Fire Cups - Water Swords - Air Pentacles - Earth
Court Personality Associations:
King - Air Queen - Water Knight - Fire Page - Earth Remember that the suit’s elemental association will have a stronger influence than the personality element. (example: The King of Wands is ruled predominantly by Fire; Air is the secondary element).
Combining a Court Card’s suit and personality elements will help you remember personality traits for that card. Some tips:
Double elements (i.e. King of Swords) will take a suit’s traits to the extreme.
Complementing elements (Fire/Earth and Air/Water) indicate a balanced approach
Opposing elements (Fire/Water and Earth/Air) mean unpredictable behaviors with extreme polarities.
I
put all this info into the graphic above for those of you who are
visual learners and/or people who might want to save it for reference.
