Kitchen Witchcraft Masterpost

So yesterday, I took a very interesting class taught by my friend Hovik about Spell Crafting with Food. He’s a very talented witch and chef, and if you’re interested in any of his witchy works, you can find him on Periscope here, on Twitter here, and on Instagram here. He also works at a local pagan supply shop, The Green Man Metaphysical Shoppe and Apothecary, and their website can be found here
I’m gonna break this down as well as i can, and I apologize in advance to Hovik if i missed some key points. Sorry man, but you talk really fucking fast!
Lets start with tools.
Tools in The Kitchen
  • Kitchen Twine can bring knot and number magick into your cooking
  • Measuring cups/spoons can be used/represent abundance and multiplication
  • Scales can bring justice and balance (i.e. you’re making cookies for an event with someone, in which you have the opportunity to gain something for yourself/the greater good. So, you may make your cookie weigh more so that the odds are in your favor when speaking to whomever about thing XYZ, while making sure the difference isn’t too obvious)
  • Pot/Cauldron is the belly of everything. It brings forth creation, form, and can also aid in protection and bringing forth prosperity.
  • Spoons can either banish or bring things in, depending on the direction you stir it. (Generally, clockwise is to bring things in, counterclockwise to banish things. What you are banishing or bringing in depends on your personal intent)
  • Kitchen Knives can be used to cut shapes into your food. For example, you can cut uniformly to bring control/order into your life, roughly chopping things can help one to bring relaxation, heart shapes for love, etc.
  • Forks can be used for uncrossing, removal, and anger related issues
  • Whisks bring in air, and can assist you in incorporating rhyme, song, and bringing spirit(s) into your work.
  • Sifters/colanders are good for protection. If you hang one on near an entryway, it prevents evil spirits from entering the space and getting into the food.
