Your craft is just that… YOUR craft! The beautiful thing about being a witch is that no two witches are the same. We learn from each other while embracing our differences and I can’t think of a better way to be.

Wand Ideas??

If we roll with the idea that our wands could be anything we enchant, then we can come up with some unique and confidential wand ideas. Like:
  • a pen or pencil
  • a wooden spoon
  • a lighter
  • a fishing rod
  • one of those handheld fans
  • chopsticks (like DUAL-WIELDING wands … each standing for a different element, or life/death … it sounds so dope)
  • a bow and arrow
  • a paintbrush
  • a ruler
  • a flashdrive (imagine having your entire grimoire IN YOUR WAND)
  • a hairpin
  • long crystals
  • a pocket knife
  • a wii-mote
  • an animal bone
I’m really into this idea of casual items being wands, especially for secret witches. If anyone else has ideas, please add on! I wanna read them!!

Homemade Altar Cleansing Wipes

Great at cleaning up incense ash, spilled oil from annoying that last candle, or just giving your altar some TLC if you haven’t had much time to practice at it lately.
You will need:
🍋 Mixing bowl, spoon, and sharp knife
🍋 1 roll strong paper towel
🍋 A large mouth container
🍋 1 cup water
🍋 ½ cup white vinegar
🍋 ¼ cup rubbing alcohol
🍋 2 tbsp lemon scented dish soap
🍋 Lemon essential oil
🍋 Rosemary essential oil
Optional: Sharpie, clear quartz, silk plants, hot glue gun, or other decorative supplies.
First, saw your paper towel in half. Remove the cardboard tube from the middle, pulling it through to the top to create a “wipe dispenser.” Stuff the half roll into your container. Next, mix all your wet ingredients together, using 5 drops each of rosemary and lemon essential oil. Pour this mix into your container over your paper towels, and you’re done! I also put 4 small clear quartz chips into the jar in each corner to amplify the cleansing energy of the lemon and rosemary.
From here, you can decorate your container! I drew a cleansing sigil on the lid, fixing a clear quartz point to the center so that I can charge it from time to time. (The black moon is a perfect time for that!)

If they dry out, just add a little more water. Also, if you moisten a wipe and heat it for 10 seconds in the microwave, it can help soften wax spills!!

Anxiety Reduction Crystal Elixir

             Anxiety Reduction Crystal Elixir

What you will need:
- A jar
- Moon Water
- Amethyst
- Clear Quartz
- Rose Quartz
- Citrine (optional)
Hi guys :) As some of you may know I have an anxiety disorder.  While I advocate for professional treatment (if your budget allows it), I also love the idea of using witchcraft in addition to other methods for helping myself cope!
*Please note witchcraft is never a substitute for professional medical treatment or advice of any kind. *
So onto the elixir!
I came up with this when thinking about my own anxiety.  I used waxing crescent moon water to help myself with personal growth.  Here’s the ‘recipe’!
1. Place your moon water into a jar (I used one I got from Dave and Busters, any jar will work!).  The moon water I used for this recipe was fro a waxing crescent.
2. Add in the rose quartz (for self love), clear quartz (the master healer) and amethyst (for fighting anxiety).  In addition to this you may also add in citrine (for happiness and positivity).  Please note that before you ever make any sort of crystal elixir to look up the solubility of your crystals and minerals in water.  Some may become damaged, others can be toxic!  This specific elixir is meant to go on the skin, not to be ingested.
3. Very lightly, swirl the water with your fingertip and repeat “my anxiety cannot bring me down”.
4. When you feel anxious, dab a little water on your forehead to ward off the unhappy and unwanted thoughts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope this helps some people <3 I had a lot of fun creating this, and would love some critiques as it is my first time making one of these :) Best wishes to everyone!
Everyday Secret Witchcraft:
             Everyday Secret Witchcraft:
Hey all, sorry I’ve been pretty inactive but I’m starting a nursing course at university very soon so I’ve had a lot of stuff to organise!
Anyway, this is pretty related because it’s a list of discreet little practices that you can do every day to help you connect with your craft in an easy and lowkey way. Many of these come from my own practice and work for me in the busy, mundane aspects of my life, but feel free to adapt and bend them to suit your own needs. Feel free to use this list as inspiration and also to add on to it! Let’s get heaps of ideas for all the witches (secret or not) out there!
EATING AND DRINKING:
- Say (either whispered out loud or spoken mentally) a quick thank you before you eat or drink. This can be to nature, a deity or divinity, to the hands that prepared the meal etc.
- Take 5 minutes to focus and put intent into food or drink as you prepare and / or eat it. This is also a good way to unwind and no-one will suspect a thing (the most anyone may say is that you’re a slow eater :P)
- If you have a meal using witchy correspondences, then great! If not, just enjoy it as sustenance from the earth.
- You can use colour magic when choosing a bowl/cup/plate etc to eat or drink from.
- Place a crystal in your water bottle or fav mug and sit it in the moonlight to cleanse and charge overnight. This will help eliminate any negativity that has accumulated in there, and I find it important to keep my water bottle cleansed since it’s my main source of hydration through the day. Don’t wanna be carrying around and drinking from a bottle with negative energy!
- Charge drinking water in sunlight or moonlight. This can be as simple as placing a glass of water on a table that’s in sunlight - nothing suspicious about that.
- If you like, you can infuse your water with mint, lemon etc to bring cleansing, protection or whatever else you like. Plus, it tastes good and freshens your breath.
- Drink coffee or tea if you like it. It’s beyond normal and each kind has its own magical properties.
SLEEP:
- Use colour magic when choosing blankets and pillows for your bed and focus your intent on them as you make your bed.
- Slip a crystal or two under your pillow or perhaps inside your pillowcase if you want to be even more discreet.
- Observe the patterns of the sun and moon if you can, and attune to your body’s natural sleep-wake cycle.
- Say good morning and goodnight to the sun, moon, any deities etc. Ask and thank them for protection while you sleep and blessings and guidance throughout the day.
- Sleep with your witchy tools near you: under or beside the bed, under your pillow or mattress, on your person. This may help you bond with them and connect with their energies in your daily life.
CLEANING:
- Open the windows and light a candle or some incense before cleansing. If anyone asks, say you’re freshening the room and letting in some good scents.
- Physically clean an area before you spiritually cleanse it. When physically cleaning, use your intent to banish any negativity as you go. Doing this regularly will make it less draining and you’ll have less to clean and cleanse in the long run.
- Cleansing your tools can be tricky, especially if you have a bunch of crystals and a stray tarot deck lined up on your windowsill in the moonlight. Instead, you can cleanse and charge them with your intent. This can be difficult and draining, but I find that carrying tools with me and mentally checking in with them to see if they need a cleanse can help me bond with them.
- Strategically place objects in sunlight or moonlight to get a quick boost. I like to do this with my bedsheets before I put them on my bed or with my water bottle. get into the habit of positioning items in sunny and/or moonlit areas to let them charge there without suspicion, or better yet, when you introduce a witchy object to your home, make that it’s designated place. For example, make a normal thing out of having crystals on your windowsill - they can charge there and if anyone asks, you can pass them off as decorative. Make sure whatever you place in the sun is heat safe and do your research with crystals as some fade in the sunlight.
- Sing or play music out loud. This helps raise the vibration of the area and drive out negativity. You may like to make this part of your cleansing method - opening the window, lighting a candle or incense and turning up the music as you work.
- Add some moonwater or sunwater to the sink when you wash your dishes to energetically cleanse and charge them.
OUTDOORS:
- Make a conscious effort to be mindful of nature. Notice the position of the moon or sun, the moon phase, temperature, weather, plants in season, animal encounters etc. I find that doing this strengthens my connection with nature and picks me up if I’m feeling down, as it’s very grounding for me to do.
- Ask the wind or rain to cleanse you of negativity. Close your eyes and slow your breathing if you can / want to. Let the elements cleanse and bless you, and remember to thank them.
- If you want to spend more time in nature, start by taking mundane things outside. Read, walk, run, play with pets, water plants, cloud watch, garden, sip your morning drink as you sit outside - there are plenty of ways to get out in nature without people thinking of you as a witch.
RESEARCH:
- Carry a little notebook or use the notes in your phone to scribble down any little ideas or thoughts you have. Be it a sigil or spell idea, a reminder that the full moon is coming up or a reminder to look up magical recipes using a certain ingredient you have lots of.
- Draw or write in a shorthand code or adapt a sort of ‘language‘ that you can write witchy notes in.
OTHER:
- Sigils! Sigils have a multitude of uses so making your own or using ones that people have given you permission to use can be a fantastic way to bring a touch of magic into your day.
- Clockwise motion: This motion is synonymous with the movement of the sun and therefore linked to luck, positivity, health, success, increase, manifestation and joy. It can be used as a gesture to draw things to you. Examples of when to use a clockwise motion: stirring drinks or food, after cleansing a space and then wanting to welcome in positivity.
- Anti-clockwise (counter-clockwise) motion: This motion is used to banish and rid negativity. I love to use this gesture when cleansing for this reason. Examples of when to use: when wiping down a surface, smoothing out blankets when making a bed, scrubbing yourself clean.
- Keep witchy objects close to you if they can pass as aesthetic or common, everyday items. If they can be perceived as decorative, there is no need to hide them! The more you have it around, the more likely others will be to accept it as your normal aesthetic, and if they see that’s what you’re into, you may be more likely to be gifted similar objects in the future. And who doesn’t love presents that can be used in their craft?
- Incantations: These are as versatile and personal as sigils, and can be said to the wind, spoken in your mind or whispered as you blow on a hot drink. They can be used for any number of things and can help to focus your intent, so get creative!
The more you do these activities, the less likely people around you will be to think that what you’re doing is witchcraft and they’ll come to accept it as part of your everyday routine. Not only that, but they’ll become strong habits to you - part of your everyday life. If you can achieve this, it’ll be easier for you to practice regularly as you get into a routine, and you may feel a better connection with your craft and yourself too :)
Feel free to add more ideas, this is merely my own practice!
▽ Carefully add a teaspoon of lemon juice into the container with the ground up herbs, and then gently blend them together.
▽ Now it’s time to light the sandalwood incense, be sure not to burn yourself!
▽ When the incense is burning, use your pen to write/create a purification sigil. Make sure to let your energy flow into it to charge it. This is one I made for this occassion. (Image below is a Purification Sigil with the text “This [noun] will remain purified”).
▽ Once you have created your sigil, dip your fingers into the jar and rub your purification mixture onto the piece of paper, make sure to be visualising the item or place you want purified.
▽ I would also suggest using an incantation for that extra “unf”. Inhale the incense and chant your incantation until you feel as if enough energy has gone into your sigil.
Infinite power of the Divine;
Please bless and help this spell of mine,
I expel all that may be profane;
So only positives shall remain,
Negative energies I banish thee,
This is my will so Mote It Be.
▽ Once you have finished, burn your sigil into a pile of ashes and blow them away into the wind (or just safely dispose of them), and make sure to visualise what it is you want purified.
If anyone ends up using this spell, feel free to send me photos and updates!
Burn this sigil and sprinkle the ashes around a copy of your resume before handing out resumes while job hunting (that aren’t covered in ash)
Salt Dough Recipe
There’s a reason this salt dough recipe is the first thing in my grimoire. Very few tools have been quite as versatile as this. I have made offering bowls, a measuring spoon, a deity statue, runes… and I could go on.
Salt dough is wonderful for witchery because you make it yourself, it’s cheap af, you can make it with things you steal from the kitchen while you’re stealing McCormack herbs (don’t lie, you know you’ve done it), and it’s salt based which is like the witchiest of witch things.
The small discs on the page are my latest idea, which is outlined in the second note on the page. I mixed dried herbs into the salt dough, formed discs, let it dry, and now I’ve got these portable little magic herb discs. The ones on the page are basil and powdered sugar for drawing wealth at work. But the possibilities are endless. If you can make an herb sachet or powder, you can probably also make it a salt dough disc.
Witch tip: set these out on a dish to dry by your window to give it all that good sun and moonlight
Gem Water
Gem water
Gem water is water that has been exposed to crystals so that the water can be encoded with the energy of the crystals. You are left with very useful and high frequency water.
There are three main things to keep in mind when you are going to make a gem elixir.
1. Toxicity
Do NOT place crystals into your drinking water without checking for toxicity. Most crystals within the quartz family are safe for drinking water, like amethyst. Always check first.
2. Use
Some uses are baths, sprays, and taking a few drops at a time like you would with a flower essence.
3. Desired Potency
Do you want something that is really strong and energetically potent? Or did you just want to add a small boost to the water you are using?
Ways to increase potency:
  • Astrological correspondences
  • Adding other ingredients, such as herbs
  • Leaving the water to be exposed to the crystals for a longer period of time
  • Exposing the water to an appropriate colored light
Methods for creating gem water:
  • Drinking glass method (for nontoxic crystals)
Simply place your crystal(s) in your water glass and leave for at least an hour.
  • Glass with lid method (for nontoxic crystals)
Find a glass container with a lid (a jar works) and fill it with water and your chosen crystal(s). Leave it overnight, or longer. (Outside during a full moon is appropriate)
  • Crystal next to or under glass method (for toxic crystals)
For toxic crystals, place the crystal either under or next to the water container. Never inside of it.
Different gem water recipes to try:
  • Moonstone, ametrine (or amethyst), and rose quartz for balancing hormones and PMS
  • Labradorite, rainbow fluorite (in the green, blue, and purple range), and blue calcite for meditation and astral travel
  • Rose quartz, aquamarine for healing acne
  • Smokey quartz, hematite, and black obsidian for grounding
  • Black tourmaline and amethyst for protection
  • Apache tear, lepidolite, and azurite-malachite for emotional balance/healing
Ongoing Cultural Appropriation Masterpost
This will be an ongoing list of informative and educational posts by not only myself, but other members of the POC community. They are all properly credited and when you click on the link, it will take you to their post and their blog. Please support POC bloggers and give them a follow!
Also, if you have made posts or know of really good cultural appropriation posts (please send me actual links) that you would like for me to include in this post (because my search skills can only extend so far haha), please shoot me a message with a link! Since I make posts only on ndn issues (since I am ndn), there might be a few more posts on that subject until I can find more posts to even it out! Thank you for reading!
12/3/16: I fixed the broken links and removed the inactive ones! Added a Pasifika Cultures section!
12/13/16: Added on to all existing sections and made Central/South American cultures their own section.
12/22/16: Expanding the Roma, Asian and Pasifika sections a little.
