Cù-Sìth
Cù-Sìth (singular) or Coin-Sìth (plural) is a magical hound native to Scotland and the Hebrides. Growing from the size of a large British sheepdog to the size of a young bull the Cù-Sìth resembles a wolf in appearance, although its coat is usually a dark green or white colour. Its paws can be up to, and in some cases, bigger than the size of a mans hand. The tail of a Cù-Sìth is often long and may look as though coiled or plaited due to how the fur curls.
Generally found in the Scottish Highlands, some wixes have been known to mistake a Cù-Sìth for a Grim, due to the size, appearance and often dark colouration. Cù-Sìth usually make their dens in clefts of rock and caves, although they are known hunt on the moors and in the mountains also.
It is said that the bark of a Cù-Sìth can kill or warn of death, although this has been proven to be incorrect, a bark more usually, like with many animals, being a warning. Those who ignore the warning will be responded to with many more barks and may well be attacked by the Cù-Sìth whose huge size almost always kills the interloper.
