The first part is often argued but MOST agree that it begins at dinner. Where the necromancer eats a meal of either. Items resembling rot and decay such as stale black bread ( made black ), fermented foods and charred meat as well as marrow or a simple meal made of dry fruits and vegetables, cured meats and small biscuits or cakes (such as a moon cake). The third option is fasting for three, five or seven days (and eating every dusk). Your meals, if you choose to fast will contain grape juice / wine, Apple juice, rice and beans, dry fruits and bread. While you fast you are permitted water throughout the day. If you choose to fast on the last day (day of the ritual) you will have one of the pre mentioned meals. Then just as the sun begins to set, bathe with lavender in the water, try using a natural, hand made soap rather than store brands. Dry yourself off and get dressed in black clothing, a robe is suggested but anything will do, cover your head in a cloth or with a hood
It is tradition to walk barefoot / wear black bandages on your feet while you walk to the ritual site yet in our modern age of glass and needles do not worry if you wear shoes. In ancient times it was custom to sacrifice a lamb after the dinner yet it is most definitely not required. In it’s place i suggest making a small altar and placing coins, wine and bread on said altar. The clothing you wear should be a specific set of clean, high quality clothing that you have set aside for the express purpose of ritual attire, you are not to wear it on any other day. It is common practice not to talk to and/or look at anyone on your way to and from a ritual. On top of that, post ritual you are to eat another of the pre mentioned meals or fast another 3/5/7 days
