Pit and flame. The general set up for a necromantic invocation will include one or both. The pit is a hole, in which sacrifices are left for the dead. The flame is a large fire where one leaves sacrifices for the gods or spirits by burning them. The pit must always be to the east and the flame to the west. Sacrifices are done from one station to the next in a clock wise fashion, between sacrifices a blessing or invocation is spoken. An alternative setup is, the flame IN the pit, with sacrifices for the dead being laid AROUND the pit. The pit is dug by hand and must be the same size in any direction. Sacrifices may vary but the mandatory one is blood, human or animal, this is poured into the pit. The smoke of the offerings is said to raise the spirits, from here the ritual can turn in two directions. One, meeting the dead at the gates or two, meditation at the foot of the flame using a scrying bowl or a number of other methods . When you feel you are truly connected open your eyes and stare at the smoke, it is at this point your mind and body become two different entities.Your mind will commune with the spirits, your mouth open and your body quiver, do not force a word for this will break the hold. Stare into the flame for long, watch the smoke rise above you. Slowly your mind will manifest these spirits into a tangible form, usually that of a human. Open your mouth and ask what it is you wish
The rest is uncertain, as each experience is different.
