simple morning ritual

this is a simple morning ritual that i wrote for you, to start your day. the best place to perform this ritual would be outside, but it also works inside.
go to a quiet place, and be sure you won’t be disturbed. take a few deep breaths and then face your palms up, look up at the sky/ceiling, and say: “sky above”.
then face your palms down, look down at the ground/floor, and say: ”earth below, I greet you.” then just stand there, and breathe. you can either close your eyes and concentrate on the smell of the earth and the sounds of nature. or, you can open you eyes and see the wind make the leaves flutter and take it all in. where ever you are, however you’re connecting with nature, just take a moment and don’t think about anything but that.
//i did not write this ritual, i read it off the internet and made changes to it to fit my personal needs.

This is one of the largest coins struck among the Celtic peoples of Austria. Though the description of the coin describes it as “celticized,” referring to stylized ear on the obverse and the hair and form of the rider on the reverse, this coin owes a great deal of its appearance to the coinage of earlier Hellenistic kings. The short hair of the obverse resembles King Mithridates III of Pontus or Eumenes II of Pergamum, and the diadem mimics many of the kings. Horses are another common motif on Hellenistic coinage as a sign of elite wealth and power.
Burgenland is a province in the east of Austria and was at this time ruled as an independent Celtic kingdom. We do not know the name of its ruler, or much about the area until it’s conquest by the Romans in the 1st century CE.

Freya and Loki

All day had Freya, most lovely of the goddesses, played and romped in the fields. Then did she lay down to rest.

All day had Freya, most lovely of the goddesses, played and romped in the fields. Then did she lay down to rest.
And while she slept deft Loki, the Prankster, the Mischief-Maker of the Gods, did espy the glimmering of Brosingamene, formed of Galdra, her constant companion. Silent as night did Loki move to the Goddess’ side and, with fingers formed over the years in lightness, did remove the silver circlet from about her snow-white neck.
Straightaway did Freya arouse, on sensing its loss. Though he moved with the speed of the winds yet Loki she glimpsed as he passed swiftly from sight into the Barrow that leads to Drëun.
Then was Freya in despair. Darkness descended all about her to hide her tears. Great was her anguish. All light, all life, all creatures joined her in doom
To all corners were sent the Searchers, in quest of Loki; yet knew yet they, theywould find him not. For who is there may descend into Drëun and return again from thence?
Excepting the Gods themselves and, alack, mischievous Loki.
So it was that, still weak from grief, Freya herself elected to descend in search of Brosingamene. At the portals of the Barrow was she challenged yet recognized and passed.
The multitude of souls within cried joyfully to see her yet could she not tarry as she sought her stolen light.
The infamous Loki left no trail to follow, yet was he everywhere past seen. Those to whom she spake held to Freya (that) Loki carried no jewel as he went by.
     Where, then, was it hid?
In despair she searched an age.
Hearhden, the mighty smith of the Gods, did arise from his rest to sense the bewailment of the souls of Freya’s sorrow. Striding from his smithy, to find the cause of the sorrow, did he espy where the Silver Circlet where Loki Mischief-Maker had laid it; upon the rock before his door.
Then was all clear. As Hearhden took hold of Brosingamene, (then did) Loki appearbefore him, his face wild with rage.
Yet would Loki not attack Hearhden, this mighty smith whose strength was known even beyond Drëun.
By wiles and tricks did he strive to get his hands upon the silver circlet. He shapeshifted; he darted here and there; he was visible then invisible. Yet could he not sway the smith.
Tiring of the fight, Hearhden raised his mighty club. Then sped Loki away.     Great was the hoy of Freya when Hearhden placed Brosingamene once more about her snow-white neck.     Great were the cries of joy from Drëun and above.
Great were the thanks that Freya, and all Men, gave the Gods for the return of Brosingamene.

Let’s Make A Mental Illness Inclusive Witchcraft Community

I know I’m not the only one. There are other witches who hide their mental illness on their witchcraft blog. I’ve never personally seen hostility towards the mentally ill in the witchcraft community here, but I still made a whole separate blog for my craft out of fear of judgment.
I have seen other witches vaguely mention their mental health, so I know I am not alone here. I don’t want my personal blog and my witchcraft blog to be separate anymore. My practice IS personal, and keeping them separate takes too much energy. I have already begun posting witchcraft related things on this blog.

Deities

Gods and goddesses are NOT correspondences. They are NOT spell ingredients. Gods and goddesses are not just called on for spells. They are to be respected and honored. I’ve seen this trend of Neo-Pagans to say “oh this god or goddess is good for such and such”. They are not “good for something” like an herb or a stone. They are the divine ruler of that thing. Building relationships with deities requires work. They don’t just do everything you ask them. Have respect for deities, don’t just list them as correspondences and use them for their associations.

Making Your Book of Shadows (BOS)

If you’re a beginner witch or an experienced one, your BOS is one of the most important magickal tools you could have. It can contain all the notes and spells you’ll need, plus any references. If you’re unsure on how to make your own, I’ve created a basic guide that can help.
First thing you need to do, pick a method to keep your info in. A popular method is using a three-ring binder so you can rearrange the pages as necessary (you might want to use page protectors so you don’t get candle wax or anything else on your pages). You can also use a notebook, a composition notebook - your choice.
You’ll need a title page! It can be as simple or as fancy as you want it to be. Remember that your BOS is a magickal tool and needs to be handled with care. Many witches simple put “The Book of Shadows of _____.”
If you’re a witch in the Broom Closet and you don’t want people reading your BOS, use a magickal alphabet (Theban or Celtic Ogham are some choices), or you can use your native alphabet. Writing in a fancy alphabet may look pretty, but may be difficult until you’re fluent.
So, aesthetics aside, what goes in your BOS?
You’ll want to add the Laws of your Coven or Tradition. It’ll just serve as the do’s and don’t’s of what YOU (unless you’re in a Coven) believe you should and should not do. There has to be a line at some point, right?
If you’ve been initiated into a coven, add your ceremony in your BOS. If you’re a solitary witch, add a dedication to your Goddess(es) and/or your God(s). This can be a long essay about why you’ve chosen those deities, or it can be as simple as “I, ______, dedicate myself to the Goddess today, February 13, 2016.”
Don’t forget your Gods and Goddesses! Add pictures, stories, myths, legends, anything you can/want about your deities into your BOS.
Correspondence tables are every witch’s best friend. From Moon Phases to Color Meanings, Stones, Crystals. Magick relies heavily on symbols, but it does you no good if you don’t know what they mean.
Sabbat Ritual rules and other rituals should also be added. You don’t want to show up to a public ritual doing the wrong thing.
You can add your Herbs too. After all, different herbs do different things.
If you’re into divination, adding your notes here can be very helpful.
If you have any favorite sacred texts or need them for your coven, put them in your BOS for easy access.
Kitchen Magick is great! Add your magickal recipes in here (unless you have a magickal cookbook).
Last, but not least, your spell workings! Add your notes, your changes, your outcomes, anything that will be useful for future needs!
Of course, you do not need to add every last bit here, its just a guideline in cae you’re stuck on what to put inside your BOS.
Hope it was helpful! Blessed Be-

Ritual to remember past lives

This can be used to remember your past kin life or perhaps to remember past friends! this is a VERY commonly used one, if you’d like a different one feel free to message me!
What You’ll Need
  • a white candle
  • a glass filled with water and flower petals
  • a mirror
Place the mirror inside the bowl. Light the candle and place it and the bowl beside your bed. When you are in your meditative state, surrounded by light. Imagine a television. The television should give you the sense of being in front of your physical body, and NOT in your head. If you see the television in your minds eye then you are not doing this technique correctly.
See your life going back, yesterday, last year, your childhood, your birth, the safety of your mothers wombs, go back further. Don’t think “Oh whats before that?” It should come to you naturally, you may be transported to a memory anytime throughout you past life, it may be a mundane moment, it may be something exciting, it may be you sleeping!
If you find yourself implanting details or trying to FILL in the blank (there probably will be some missing details the first time around) STOP and try again. You may want to listen to a past life regression hypnosis or meditation if you find it to difficult to do on your own.

Hope this helps some of you!

How to Witchcraft: Knot, Thread & Cord Magic

It’s a funny thing. I use knot/cord magic A LOT but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a book devoted to it (I like Scott Cunningham’s chapter on it in Earth Power, pg.91). It’s so versatile though that there SHOULD be more about it.
As a newer witch, knot/cord magic is something I HIGHLY recommend. Especially if you are in the broom closet/can’t light candles or have a fire to burn herbs. It’s easy to do and it’s inconspicuous. There are so many ways to incorporate it too.
First let’s talk about the different kinds of knot/cord magic:
Braiding: Used for long term, braid three or more colored cords while focusing on your intention and use when necessary.
Knot 1:  Tie 9 knots on a colored cord while focusing on your intention and place some place where it will not be disturbed (by storing it, burning it or burying it- so the knots will never be undone).
Knot 2: Tie 9 knots on a colored cord while focusing on your intention to store energy. Release knots one by one in the order they were tied to release the energy when needed, once a day consecutively.
Crochet/Knitting: Use to imbue intention into the item so that the wearer benefits (e.g. warmth, self confidence, protection, etc).
Cross Stitch/Embroidery: Used to imbue intention into the item. Especially useful with sigils.
How to do it:
There are a few methods known when working with knot & cord magic.
Braided cords typically do not get undone, and are stored for long term use. While braiding the cord (typically in 9’ or 9" measurements but if you don’t follow the threefold law this is irrelevant– unless your deity is a triplicate that you plan to invoke). To Do: Concentrate on your intent while braiding the cord, visualizing/thinking about it coming to fruition. Once you’re finished braiding consecrate the cord and put it away until you need it. This isn’t meant for an every day thing, just an as needed cord.
Knots can be harnessed in a few ways but the gist is that you’re using the knots to store power related to the intention of your spell. 1) Where you don’t ever untie them, 2) When you untie them as power is needed, or 3) when you untie one knot each day for consecutive days.
Typically you would tie a bead onto one end of the cord so that you know what your starting end is. You can also melt the ends with fire to prevent fraying. To Do: Pass the cord through a candle flame or incense to cleanse it while saying the words of your spell (i.e. the REASON you’re doing this) then you begin tying the knots in the cord you want to say the following while focusing on the intention/the type of power you are storing:
By knot of ONE, the spell’s begun
By knot of TWO, it cometh true
By knot of THREE, so mote it be
By knot of FOUR, this power I store
By knot of FIVE, the spell’s alive
By knot of SIX, this spell I fix
By knot of SEVEN, events I’ll leaven
By knot of EIGHT, it will be Fate
By knot of NINE, what’s done is mine
Generally knots are tied in this order:
1——6——4——7——3——8——5——9——2
But I have seen other variations, I just find this one easier to follow because it doesn’t start in the middle so you have a reference point for which end contains the 1st knot (the bead). You can also tie things INTO the knot to strengthen the magic even further (hair, wood, stones/gems, etc) just make sure to destroy or bury those items if you choose to untie the knots. Some people use knotted cords as a powerful talisman and don’t untie the knots, if this is the case you want to store it where it won’t be disturbed, burn it so it will never physically be untied or bury it where it will disintegrate in the earth and also never physically be untied. I have done all three methods of handling and I can’t say I prefer one over the other. The really great thing about storing energy is that it’s raised when it will be the most powerful (increases, like success or protection, would be sometime from the new moon to full and decreases, like a binding, would be sometime from the full moon to new) but the power is now stored for use whenever you need it
Crocheting/Knitting is something I consider part of knot and cord magic because you can purposefully stitch your intention into the item you’re making. A lot of time, if for friends/family, I weave warmth and protection into things I make for them. So I might say something like:
With every stitch that I make, the wearer of this item will be protected
and warm, but as the need arises
they will be alert until they get to safety.
Never too hot, but not cold either,
This item will keep them comfortable.
By earth, air, flame and sea,
as I say, so shall it be.

And I’ll focus on that while I continue to make the item. Off topic, but notice how I put a clause in there that they will be alert if the need arises until they reach safety. I don’t want them to be so warm and comfortable that they neglect their own safety.
Cross-stitch/embroidery: You can embroider sigils using color appropriate cloth and thread! You can cross stitch spells into your work (like cross stitching an acorn and imbuing it with luck and protection, which actual acorns can represent). There are so many different things you could do, let your imagination do the work!
Color in knot & cord magic:
White: purity, truth, sincerity, spirituality, the goddess, peace, higher self, virginity(as in the woman’s mind is owned by no man), a substitute for any other color.

Red:
strength, health, vigor, sexual love, energy, passion, courage, element of fire, career goals, fast action, lust, blood of the moon, vibrancy, driving force, survival

10 Simple Ways to Weave Magick Into Your Everyday Life

Witchcraft is, in plain and simple terms, the art of doing things better. It might be through energy work, herbal medicine, application of Will, meditative trance, or any number of a thousand other little ways in which the Witch applies their Will and effort in order to achieve their goals. But sometimes you just don’t want to perform a huge ritual, or you don’t have the time, energy, spoons, or tools to allow you to perform magick in a manner you might prefer. Here are 10 simple examples of everyday magick, to help encourage your witchy senses and promote your exploration of your own skills.
  1. Infuse living energy into bread dough as you knead, encouraging the yeast to grow. Yeast is a living creature, an example of many hundreds of thousands of single-celled fungi working together in order to help you achieve a well-risen loaf. Encourage them to flourish and bloom with a little life energy!
  2. Use visualisation as you travel to your destination to help yourself find a parking space. Visualisation is a powerful tool if used by someone who has practiced and honed it as a skill. Practice using it on small things like parking spaces, finding your keys, and finding the exact page you need to in a book.
  3. Draw “find me” sigils on your keys so that you never lose them.Keys are a nightmare; just when you think you’ve finally got a system that will ensure they’re never lost again, away they go! Draw “find me” sigils across them to make sure they’re always found when they go missing!
  4. Make every glass of water you drink into a healing potion. Focus on the water before you drink it, fill it with healing energies, and ask the spirits to assist you in allowing it to clean your body and mind. Every glass you drink can be a healing potion, and every sip you take can energise and empower you!
  5. Use meditation at work or school to remain calm and composed during stressful times. Meditation is a powerful tool for enhancing mindfulness and mental balance, and is an intrinsic part of witchcraft in the modern era. Spend 10 minutes during your lunch break meditating and reaffirming your calm, open nature, and you’ll be amazed at the benefits you reap!
  6. Create psychic shields to keep bad mental influences at bay.Psychic shielding is a technique used by Witches and non-Witches alike to keep themselves safe from harmful mental and psychic influences such as energy vampires, negative spirits, and unrealised empaths who are in bad moods. Practice putting up mental barriers between yourself and the world, and use it to keep negative influences at bay.
  7. Weave energising magicks into your dinner as you cook. Food’s purpose is to fuel our bodies and our minds, and so what better way to enhance these properties than with a little magick? Energise your food and encourage it to be burnt more efficiently by those who eat it to enhance the benefit that you and your diners receive from their dinner.
  8. Create a music playlist that raises power. Choose songs that you find energising, empowering or strong, and arrange them into a playlist that you can listen to at home or take with you on your phone. Raise power as you listen to it, and you’ll find that after a while your body starts raising power without you even noticing!
  9. Visualise choosing the right lift before you even press the button. This is an excellent exercise to hone your precognition skills, and will help train you to open your mind to future possibilities. Visualise choosing the correct lift as you press the button, then stand in front of the lift you visualised opening. Over time, you’ll get better!
  10. Reach your mind out to your pets, and try to encourage them to stay calm and happy. Our pets are like our children to many people, and everyone wants their children to be calm, well-behaved, and happy. Try to reach your mind out and gently send waves of calming energy to your pets, and see how differently they act.

You can raise power, weave magick, and cast spells at any time!

There is no “witching hour”, there’s just “when I choose to use my Craft”!

Eight Forms of Creating Potions

Yes, this is from a Hogwarts text, however, the information contained therein is accurate and relevant and certainly worth sharing on this blog, if only to fully expand upon the type of material I hope to cover here.
Infusions
An infusion is a form of water based potion, similar to a tea, and best suited for immediate ingestion of delicate ingredients such leaves or petals. To make a magical infusion: pour boiling water over your ingredients in goblet and leave to infuse for 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently. Strain before drinking if necessary. The leaves in an infusion need to steep longer than your average herbal tea, to allow enough time to release their phytochemicals, which are the active ingredients of the potion.
Decoctions
A decoction is another water based potion designed for immediate ingestion. However, it is a more concentrated brew than an infusion and is usually reserved for tougher ingredients such as roots or bark – where prolonged stewing is needed to release the phytochemicals.  A decoction can also be reduced, which is to say, it can be made more concentrated by prolonged simmering which evaporates the water. To make a decoction: simmer your ingredients in water in a cauldron over low heat for 10-30 minutes; then strain. Reduce if necessary with further simmering over a low heat.
Tinctures
A tincture is an alcohol based potion. It fulfills the same function as an infusion or decoction but with the added advantage that it will keep for up to a year. A tincture is suitable for both delicate leaves and tougher materials such as bark as the alcohol releases the chemicals very effectively and in a similar way to the prolonged simmering of a decoction. To make a tincture: steep your ingredients in vodka or another spirit for a week. This allows time for the alcohol to release the active elements in your plant materials. After a week, strain off the liquid into a vial and store for up to a year. Administer sparingly, a tablespoon at a time.
Vinegars
A vinegar fulfils the same purpose as a tincture except that vinegar is used instead of alcohol. Prepare your vinegar in the same manner as a tincture and store for up to a year. A vinegar is useful in the case of alcohol intolerance or where the herb used is particularly bitter as the vinegar will mask it to a great extent.
Syrups
A syrup is the most palatable form of potion. Here magical ingredients are preserved in a sugar solution. A syrup is another potion that will keep for up to a year. It is best suited for occasional use at it is very sweet and could cause tooth decay if taken regularly. A syrup can be taken by the spoonful or alternatively diluter in water in a similar manner to a fruit squash. To make a syrup: first make an infusion or decoction of your ingredients and reduce if necessary. Strain and add sugar to the potion, stirring frequently, until the brew won’t dissolve any more sugar and resembles a syrup. Store in an airtight bottle in a cool, dark place.
Poultices
A poultice is a wad of chopped plant material that is held in place directly over a wound by a bandage. To prepare a poultice: chop your fresh herb and apply directly to a wound or infection. Hold in place over the wound with a bandage. If using chopped dried herbs rehydrate them with some water first. If the herb is tough and hard to handle, try adding some vinegar diluter in water to your poultice.
Fomentations
Fomentations or compresses are cloths that have been dipped in an herbal solution – such as an infusion, decoction, or a tincture – and then are applied to a wound. To prepare a fomentation: first create the required infusion, decoction, or tincture. Then dip your cloth into the liquid, quite liberally, and apply. It is important to use a very clean cloth to prevent the spread of infection.
Salves
A salve is very similar to a lotion or a cream. Magical ingredients are mixed in base of oils or fats for external application to the skin.

You can’t define who is a witch and who is not

  • The witch that goes all out and does intense ritual work and magick everyday, is a witch.
  • The witch whom only does magick in emergencies or once in a blue moon, is a witch.
  • The witch who quietly whispers their spells and uses only their mind to manipulate energy, is a witch
  • A witch who knows everything there is to know on a witchcraft topic but never does spell work or magick themselves, is a witch.
  • A witch who knows nothing about witchcraft and hasn’t done magick yet but wants to, is a witch
  • The witch that does witchcraft everyday without knowing it, is a witch…Or just a person if they don’t desire the title. (And that’s ok!)
  • The witch who curses when wronged, is a witch
  • The witch who doesn’t believe in cursing, is a witch
  • The witch who follows a religious path, is a witch
  • The witch who follows no religion, is a witch
  • The witch that worships Gods, is a witch
  • The witch whom worships no one, is a witch
  • A witch that follows a group or coven, is a witch
  • A witch whom is solitary, is a witch
  • The witch that follows a specific way of witchcraft, is a witch
  • A witch that just does whatever they feel like and has no specific craft, is a witch
  • A witch that can’t do certain witchcraft because of a disability, is a witch
  • A witch who is old and wise with years of age on her skin, is a witch
  • A witch who is young and naive about the world and her craft, is a witch
  • A person with a penis whom calls themselves a witch instead of wizard, is a witch
  • A witch that loves sex and celebrates the creation of life through sex, is a witch
  • A witch whom isn’t sexual and values life without the creation process, is a witch
  • A witch that is broke and can’t afford to buy witchy thing for their craft, is a witch
  • A witch on a more negative or forceful path, is a witch
  • A witch on a passive or positive path, is a witch
  • The witch that wears all black and whom everyone already suspects is a witch, is a witch
  • So is the one wearing pink and flower crowns, they are also a witch
  • A witch, is a witch, is a witch.
Blood, age, color, background, knowledge, gender, or skill level means nothing.
You cannot define witchcraft or a witch. One person’s ‘imagination’ is another persons magick. One person’s ‘prayer’ is another persons invoking ritual. A person wishing upon a shooting star or making a wish on a dandelion is one persons hope and wishful thinking and another persons will to make something happen.
Know this. Remember this. Respect this.

List of SOME Modern Witches

Omni Witch: A bookworm and a know it all, this type of witch studies and practices all the fields of magick. They are innately curious about everything, and love to learn. They are talkative and eager to share the massive amount of knowledge they have absorbed.
