What “Black” magic really means.

“Black magic” is a term coined for the tribal rites and rituals used by africans.
That’s right. In fact the original phrasing of it was “magic of the blacks” which was then slowly turned to “black magic”. So before you open your mouth and say “i practice the black arts” or “the black arts are evil” do a little digging and realize your idiocy.

East and West Gates

In necromancy we refer to the two gates, the east and the west gates, however they are simply the two sides of the same gate, two components of a whole. The east gate, the “exit” for spirits in the after. Most “summonings” are done facing the east for this reason. Then there is the west gate, an entrance into the afterlands. This is based off the sun’s movements, it rises in the east, resembling an entrance into this world, and sets in the west, resembling an exit. Depending on the spell or ritual you are working on you’d change the direction in which you work.

Gates

The gates are known by many names of forms, The veil, the gates of heaven/hell/Hades and such. It is, essentially, the dividing line between this world and the next. As necromancers we see it as wrong for spirits to cross back over them after the have entered. And so, many of our practices will involve bringing them as close as we can to this world or to bring ourselves over to them.

A battery is an object used to hold a charge of death energy over long periods of time, unlike a fetish which can hold a fragment of a spirit; batteries can hold only energy. Look for a tutorial in one of my next posts.

Who can be a Necromancer?

Put aside foolish notions of being “chosen”. Necromancy is a practice that anyone with will, time and devotion can do. The first step to becoming a necromancer is creating a bond with the dead and shedding idiotic thoughts of “this will make me popular” or “this will be fun to play around with”.
Necromancy is not an “hobby” to experiment with, it requires devotion and sacrifice. You must be willing to destroy what you are, so that a necromancer can grow from the ashes.

Something to remember.

The power of a necromancer rests within him. If his ability lays in his wand, his stones, his talismans and trinkets, his rings, his staff, his gods and faith then he is powerless and he becomes but another tool. Another number in the equation of necromancy.

Golem making: Day Two

Doubt.
Blood can clot
I have no idea how that will affect the clay.
Regardless.
I’ve looked at many versions of golems online. The most practical are the traditional Jewish golems yet they do not resonate with me. I’ve turned to fiction, Many designs of fiction are perfectly doable, so tonight i will sketch out my first design of my golem. I question not my power, but my artistic ability.
I know this is short post but I’ve not made much progress. Tonight i will continue to process the clay.

I begin my journey to build a golem today. After waking up today i thought of something that happened long ago. My grandmother had a large clay golem in her house, on the Italian country side. Growing up I’d often see it and speak with it. It resembled a strong man, thick fingers and a slouched back. Often we’d wake up and find it in odd poses. Standing straight, or inches from it’s stand, scratches and chips on his hard clay skin. One day we awoke to find it gone. All that was left was a pile of clay and dust just outside the door. I began my journey by bouncing ideas off my pears and recalled the Jewish golem story. With that in mind i called upon my knowledge of spirit dolls, They act as anchors for a spirit. I wanted something more. Much like shrunken heads i wanted my golem to house a spirit. i wanted a new body for the spirit. Reincarnation. The rules of necromancy state that spirits should never be forced into new flesh, i understood this very well. The golem is to be part of the spirit, an extension. Unlike dolls which are representations of spirits, bound to spirits or may hold parts of one. I began drafting out a symbol for the golem’s forehead, like “אֱמֶת” or “emeth” which was what was written on the torah golem’s head. I chose “vie” or “life” in French and found numeric values for each letter. I set my expectations for this golem to be reasonable. I do not expect it to move, or talk. I expect it to become part of a spirit, a window through the veil that will take me to a spirit who is loyal and willing to work with me. Above you will find a picture of the cemetery clay i will be using, i broke down my mask and will be grinding the clay to dust to make an enhanced clay to create the golem. The new clay will contain 95% lamb blood, 5% of my own and bone dust. Feel free to make suggestions.

Golem creation ritual

This lengthy ritual has had months in the making, through thorough research, consulting spirits and personal experience i have created a ritual to create a powerful golem.
What is a golem?
In legend the golem is a artificial creation that has no soul and is given life through the divine. The golem is said to be able to move on its own and carry out any tasks it is put to.
The golem we will be making is neither capable of moving nor given life through the divine, simply the power of the necromancer and the spirit he is working with. The golem serves as a binding vessel, unlike dolls which act as representations and fetishes which act as evoking tools.
Collecting materials:
Clay: preferably from a grave, found just under the soil. If it is unavailable you must search for natural clay near river beds. It MUST be collected by the necromancer and refined by hand.
Blood of lamb: To make the spirit loyal to it’s worker. Can be found at ethnic food stores.
Water: Prepare large containers of water which you will bless thoroughly (refer to “blessing”). Use this water for everything involved in the ritual.
Other materials:
+ Bowl of rock salts (must be rock salt)
+ Sandalwood incense.
+ Chalk.
Preparation:
1. Find the spirit you wish to work with and create it’s sigil.
2. Sketch the golem you wish to make, it should reflect the being you are using; if it is for wealth, give the golem a clay coin.
3. Make it once with normal clay and tweak it to work for you. Take notes of your changes.
4. Prepare your workspace, wash the floors with your blessed water and clean every item you will be using.
Blessings:
1. Hold your hands over the water, say the following blessing:
“To you whom is from the lakes and rivers, from the seven seas and many ponds I say ‘Be blessed!’ And ‘be pure!’. I exorcise thee O’ waters of life, be without toxin! By my powers and grand authority over you i say ‘Be blessed!’ and 'Be pure!’. Factum est!.
2. Hold your hands over the blood and say:
“To you whom is the life essence of the loyal lamb I say 'Be blessed!’ and 'Be pure!’. I exorcise thee O’ blood of lamb, be without toxin! By my powers and grand authority over you i say 'Be blessed!’ and 'Be pure!’. Factum est!”
3. Hold your hands over your tools and say:
“To you whom are the tools of my art I say 'Be blessed!’ and 'Be pure!’. I exorcise thee oh tools of the arcane! By my powers and grand authority over you i say 'Be blessed!’ and 'Be pure!’. Factum est!”
4. Hold the clay in your hands and say:
“Clay to flesh, i give life to that without, i do so by my powers and grand authority over you!. Factum est!”
Creation:
1. Take the clay and let it dry, hydrate it with the blood of the lamb and begin to form It into the shape you wish.
2. Scratch the sigil of the spirit on it and then the numbers “XXII, XVII, V, IX” Pass it over sandalwood incense nine times and allow it to dry naturally before proceeding.
3. Draw a basic summoning circle with white chalk and say the following exactly nine times:
“Awaken, Come, Stay. ____ I conjure, evoke and summon thee unto this circle, come now and grant me audience! I demand it in the name of the powers that be! Factum est!”
4. When the spirit comes you must ask it to work with you and enter the golem, agree on a length of time this contract will last and finally command it in with the words

“I command you now ___, by my grand authority and in the name of the powers that be, enter this body i have made for you! Factum est!”
5. Take the golem to your home and leave it on your altar, the spirit will not leave your presence regardless of where in your property you go, for that reason it is wise to leave salt across your workplaces threshold if you wish for privacy.
Destruction:
1. When the time has come, take the golem and a cup of blessed water to your altar. Banish the spirit as follows:
“Leave, Go, Sleep. I banish, remove and exorcise you from this vessel, return to the land from which you came! I demand it in the name of the powers that be! Factum est!”
2. Recite the disenchantment of the clay:
“Flesh to clay, I say now: that this with life now be barren and devoid of it, i do so by my powers and grand authority over you!. Factum est!”
3. Dip your fingers in the water and rub the sigil and numbers off of the golem.
4. Take the golem and place it into the bowl of rock salts, press down so it crumbles to bits, as you do say the following:
"Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. May that which came from the earth return to it!”
5. Grind the clay and salt into a dust and throw it into a natural source of running water, a handful at a time. Announce:
“Factum est, time takes you back from where you came, the cycle begins again”
THE END.

Communication with the dead.

In my opinion, Ouija boards will not work. I have had no luck with them and for the sake of this lecture I will disregard them. It is important to note not all COMMUNICATION is a CONVERSATION. You can speak with the dead without getting or having to give a response. Certain spells will create “one sided” communication in which you ask for guidance and proceed to go about your day. That being said, There most certainly is “conversation.” This can be achieved through drea,s, introspection/deep meditation, rituals, etcetera. The dead are dead and have no voice. This is important to remember. You will not “hear” the dead. However, auditory hallucinations may occur if in a deep enough trance. For the most part, the necromancer will speak loudly, out into the black night or while staring deep within their scrying basins, and the answer will form as a thought, but one alien to you. You must not “think” it (it takes much discipline to control the mind to this degree_, but rather wait and feel in shock as a word or answer appears in your mind. DO NOT confuse this answer for a thought. This will not be yours, and you will feel this. Now there are other methods. Hosting is another way. It is important to have a recording device nearby while doing this. Through a method I will not describe here, the necromancer gives permission for a spirit to enter his or her body. The necromancer then enters to the gates through meditation and awakens. Two things may happen. You will have a string of foreign thoughts OR your mouth will open and you will shout a sentence aloud with absolutely no control over your mouth. Debunking some myths. We cannot hear the dead ( for the most part), only the truly skilled can put a voice to the dead and that is a work of the mind rather than an actual sound. We can “hear” them on a different level. We use not our ears or eyes, but rather our minds to see and hear what they say. We CANNOT see the dead in our waking state. Our eyes are simply not able to pick up on the presence of spirits. Any questions? People cannot die directly from necromancy, but it can cause health complications ( in earlier conversation). The best herbs known to necromantic arts are Mullein, sandle wood, cedar, yew, mugwort, just to name a few. If ghost is simply another word for spirit, then they are one and the same.

Decay

Death energy is of course produced by the separation of spirit and body. However, This energy is also produced by non living things. More so by the process of decay they go through. This only happens with organic material. Wood, plant life, animal carcasses, etcetera. When it comes to a deceased creature the body will constantly put out death energy, sort of like a generator. As it eats away at fuel (the body) it produces energy, but, when it comes to organic matter like wood and plant life we encounter a different system. Rather than putting out energy, they can channel and hold energy, meaning, they can not create energy but simply transfer and hold it. This is why wands for necromancy are created of dead/rotted branches, the can move our energy and help manipulate the energy around us. This is Decay. In essence, decomposing organic matter puts out energy, dead organic matter can move and hold energy. Now, this is where it gets complicated. Along with death energy comes decayed energy, not death energy and not any other energy. Think of it as “stale.” This energy is then converted into death energy over time. This can allow for interesting ways of “growing” death energy. This decayed energy is created during decomposition. The energy stored in a physical object becomes consumed by carrion or bacteria and is released into the surrounding area. However, this energy is also produced when a wave hits a rock, slowly tearing at both the Physical object and the energy in every grain, and many of natures acts. This energy is then converted back into the energy surrounding it, and thus we see rebirth. This isn’t too far from the half life theory, as well as the law that energy can not be destroyed or created, simply transform into another form. The energy has a half life and the initial amount or value of said energy decays from the object however it does not cease to exist, only change into decayed/dead/null energy.

Necromancy: Preparation

The first part is often argued but MOST agree that it begins at dinner. Where the necromancer eats a meal of either. Items resembling rot and decay such as stale black bread ( made black ), fermented foods and charred meat as well as marrow or a simple meal made of dry fruits and vegetables, cured meats and small biscuits or cakes (such as a moon cake). The third option is fasting for three, five or seven days (and eating every dusk). Your meals, if you choose to fast will contain grape juice / wine, Apple juice, rice and beans, dry fruits and bread. While you fast you are permitted water throughout the day. If you choose to fast on the last day (day of the ritual) you will have one of the pre mentioned meals. Then just as the sun begins to set, bathe with lavender in the water, try using a natural, hand made soap rather than store brands. Dry yourself off and get dressed in black clothing, a robe is suggested but anything will do, cover your head in a cloth or with a hood
It is tradition to walk barefoot / wear black bandages on your feet while you walk to the ritual site yet in our modern age of glass and needles do not worry if you wear shoes. In ancient times it was custom to sacrifice a lamb after the dinner yet it is most definitely not required. In it’s place i suggest making a small altar and placing coins, wine and bread on said altar. The clothing you wear should be a specific set of clean, high quality clothing that you have set aside for the express purpose of ritual attire, you are not to wear it on any other day. It is common practice not to talk to and/or look at anyone on your way to and from a ritual. On top of that, post ritual you are to eat another of the pre mentioned meals or fast another 3/5/7 days

Pit and Flame II

Pit and flame. The general set up for a necromantic invocation will include one or both. The pit is a hole, in which sacrifices are left for the dead. The flame is a large fire where one leaves sacrifices for the gods or spirits by burning them. The pit must always be to the east and the flame to the west. Sacrifices are done from one station to the next in a clock wise fashion, between sacrifices a blessing or invocation is spoken. An alternative setup is, the flame IN the pit, with sacrifices for the dead being laid AROUND the pit. The pit is dug by hand and must be the same size in any direction. Sacrifices may vary but the mandatory one is blood, human or animal, this is poured into the pit. The smoke of the offerings is said to raise the spirits, from here the ritual can turn in two directions. One, meeting the dead at the gates or two, meditation at the foot of the flame using a scrying bowl or a number of other methods . When you feel you are truly connected open your eyes and stare at the smoke, it is at this point your mind and body become two different entities.Your mind will commune with the spirits, your mouth open and your body quiver, do not force a word for this will break the hold. Stare into the flame for long, watch the smoke rise above you. Slowly your mind will manifest these spirits into a tangible form, usually that of a human. Open your mouth and ask what it is you wish
The rest is uncertain, as each experience is different.

Pit and Flame: the necromancers workplace.

Necromancy was widely practiced by the greeks and romans using what is known as the “pit and flame”. It consists of a large, hand dug pit and a strong fire.
The pit was used for sacrifice, slaughtering animals at it’s lip and bleeding them over the pit, followed by dumping the body in or holocaust at the flame. Alternatively, It also held smaller offerings like fruit and wine. The pit was meant to help send offerings to the underworld (which was thought to be underground) to lure spirits up to the pit to feast on the offerings. The flame was used to preform holocaust, boil teas, burn herbs and incense as well as providing a place to aim invocations at. Typical sacrifices were black ewe, black pups and cattle.

Greek Necromantic Scrying

Fill a large bronze vessel with two parts spring water to one part blood. Light a single candle and extinguish all other light. Sit so that the flame illuminates your face in the bowl, but only to the point it is recognizable as a face, ensure your attributes are hidden. Gaze deep and invoke the spirit you wish to speak with. Alternatively you can reflect with this basin at any pit and flame ritual to assist in seeing the called upon spirits. To end this ritual take the blood-water and wash your face with it. Proceed to grab the vessel and empty it into your pit.

Necromantic Scrying: Stagnant water.

This method requires:
*A still/stagnant body of water
*a pure oil
*The blood of your left palm.
Begin by mixing the oil and blood until they are well blended. Approach the pool of water and drop a single drop of the blood/oil mixture into the water.
Next, starting just below your chin, draw a line leading down to your heart.
At this point, gazing into the water should reveal a number of spirits. Do what you wish and end the ritual. To end the ritual swipe down on the floating drop of oil, using that hand wash away the line from your chin. Lastly, dump all the oil into the water as an offering and leave.
This ritual was created by sorceress Cagliastro.

Din of the damned, Feast of the corpses or the Dumb supper.

A long held tradition on samhain (though one may be held at any time) is to host a dinner party where the living and the dead may make deals, strike pacts or simply commemorate death and life.
What you will need:
+ Cups, Utensils, Plates and blowls for the participants.
+ A host who will tend to the needs of the others.
+ Chairs
+ Incense
+ Table
+ Letters to the dead, one from each participant. All entailing a thank-you to the spirit who attended. Alternatively, pacts or contracts.
+ Bell
+ Large amounts of ash
+ black marker
+ Candles.
1) An hour before the dinner starts, set the table with everything you will need. You may not leave the room until the dinner is over.
Along the walls of the room, pour ash while saying: “In memory of what was, i bring death into the room.”
On the back of the spirits plate, cast it’s sigil or write it’s name. Light the candles and incense and turn off all artificial lights.
2) Invoke the spirits and set a candle on a window sill facing east.
Invocation:
“Oh forgotten and nameless dead, I do conjure, summon and evoke thee!
Rise up from thy grave and join us in this silent feast of the dead!
RISE
RISE
RISE
To this feast I command you!
RISE!
RISE!
RISE!
Manifest thyself and join our din of corpses!”
Repeat this three times.
3) Ring the bell to signal the other guesrs that the dinner has begun.
From this moment on not a single person may speak.
4) Serve all of your guests ( the spirits included ) and attend their needs. When each participant is finished eating, take out your letters and burn them. The host rings the bell, blows out the candles and each member sits in silence and darkness. Take this time to speak with the dead (in silence), feel the spirits tug at you from all sides but make no attempt to move against them. Raise and ring the bell. Say the words
“[Spirit name], depart! I wish you vale and a peaceful rest!”
Holding the bell above your head, ring it and say “go now, my brothers and sisters, the din is done. I thank you all for your presence on this occasion”.
Rules of the dinner:
1) All participants must be dressed in funeral attire or all black clothing.
2) All participants must paint their faces like that of a corpse or skeleton, regardless of artistic talent.
3) The themes for the table settings are black, white, red and purple.
4) The food must be made without salt.
5) Drinks must be of fruits. This includes wines and cider.
6) The dinner should start at 12 am or 3 am as these are the hours the spirits are most active.

Invocation writing II

Here’s a template I made, inspired by the author Richard Kieckhefer.
1. Opening statement.
To summon a spirit:
+ “I summon”
+ “I call upon”
+ “I conjure”
+ “I invoke”
To banish a spirit:
+ “I banish”
+ “I dispel”
+ “I return”
+ “I expell”
+ “I release”
To demand something:
+ “I ask”
+ “I command”
+ “I demand”
2. Name of spirit.
“ You… “
+ Whole name
+ Whole name + birthplace (town/city/country)
+ Whole name + name of parent
+ Whole name + occupation in life
+ “Spirit”
3. Power or authority.
“ By… “
+ “My powers”
+ “My might”
+ “This token”
+ “My authority as [insert authority]”
“ In the name of ”
+ “ All that is ”
+ “ The powers that be ”
+ “ What was and will be ”
4. Command.
To summon:
+ “Manifest thyself within this [circle/room/smoke/mirror/basin/water]”
+ “Make thyself known”
+ “Come to me”
+ “Come forth”
+ “Grant me audience”
To banish:
+ “Leave this place”
+ “Leave me”
+ “Begone”
To demand something:
State your demand and offer a reward for the completion of this task.
Example: “ I summon [Opening statement]
You, John Doe [Name of spirit],
By my power and in the name of what once was [Power or authority].
Manifest thyself in this circle! [Command] ”

A Necromancer’s curse II

What you’ll need:
+ Dark Glass bottle with a narrow neck.
+ Salt ground into a fine powder.
+ Cork that fits the bottle.
+ Black marker.
+ A ritual to summon a spirit and all necessary components.
+ White cloth.
+ Black cloth.
+ Target.
+ Hot black or red wax
+ String
+ Heavy stone
Preparation:
1) On the white cloth, write the words
“I am justice. I Curse you.
The dead bring justice.
And It was I, I am Vengeance.” Using the black marker in the language of your target[s]
2) Fill the bottle half way with the fine salt.
3) Upon the bottle cast a Binding seal such as the first pentacle of the Sun using the black marker.
4) Prepare the ritual.
5) Cover the bottle with the black cloth.
Ritual:
1) Conjure the spirit in whatever manner you see fit.
2) Uncover the bottle and command the spirit to go inside.
3) When it does, close the bottle and seal it with the wax, allow it to dry fully.
4) Cover the bottle with the white cloth and then with the black one and tie the bottle and cloths with string.
5) Go to the house of your target and untie the bottle, remove the black cloth from the bottle.
6) Throw the bottle on the floor outside, releasing the spirit. Pointing with your index and pinky fingers of your left hand towards the house, say the words “Go forth and bring justice”.
7) Over the glass place the white cloth with the writing facing the sky, pin it down with the heavy stone.
8) Leave the place and watch the person[s] become more and more drained, bad luck chasing them like a rabid dog.
Once this is done there is no going back. If your target has done nothing unjust then the curse will target you instead for your actions.

Creating a book of the dead.

Find a member of your family whom is seen as “wise” and who knows much of your family tree. It is a good idea to buy a note book and use it only for the names (and characteristics) of the dead.
It is also wise to get both sides of the family, so you may maximize the amount of spirits at your disposal.
If you are “in the closet” about necromancy you can rest assured that all you are doing is collecting names and dates as well as taking notes of what they were like in life. Nothing wrong with that.
You’ll need to mark down their birthdate, date and (if possible) time of death. Ask about stories and take notes on their personality. Ask for photographs of them and ask about their favorite food and drink.
Once you’ve written down all that you can, its time to divide them.
First make two lists,
One female and one male.
Next divide those lists into:
greater (spirits you know the most about) and lesser (spirits you know very little about).
Those lists will themselves be scaling from greater to lesser. The less you know of a spirit the less capable you will be to summon them. Knowing the favorites of the deceased will allow you to create more appealing altars and give your give better offerings during a ritual and knowing the personalities helps you choose what spirit you’d want to work and what to expect.
You should now have four lists, and a notebook full of names and knowledge of the dead. By doing this you have taken the first step into summoning a spirit.

Activating a spirit altar.

Once you’ve built it, it’s time to give it life.
Every morning, before the first light breaks through the sky and at the middle of the night, sit down and meditate at the altar and feel the spirit[s] at the altar. You must invest personal energy for it to start working.
Every time you do, light the candle and let it burn until you are finished. When you are finished, blow it out. Once this has become a habit for you, your house will now be occupied by your spirits. Call upon them by name, ask for advice, acknowledge them.
You must think of them as guests, honor their every need and treat them with respect.

Erecting a spirit altar.

To begin you will need:
*At least one spirit you wish to work with.
*Something of the spirit or something bound to it (pictures, belongings, dolls).
*One large white and unscented candle. *One black altar cloth.
*One bowl of rice or loaf of bread.
*One incense holder.
*A wine glass or chalice.
*Coins or gold.
*Wine or fruit juice.
*Oil.
*Wand.
*And optionally an instrument like the drum or flute.
1. Lay down the altar cloth and place the candle in the center.
2. place the item bound to the spirit[s] you wish to work with. Place it on the wall or elevated behind the candle so you may see it easily.
3. Dip your finger in oil and smear it on your lips, proceed to kiss the item. Let the oil dry and do not wipe it off until you are done.
4. To one side of the altar, place the rice or bread. If working with various spirits leave one for each.
5. Opposite of the food, place the cup (cups if working with more than one spirit). Fill the cup half way and place the bottle of the drink behind it.
6. Place your wand to the side of your energy sending hand.
7. Place the coins or gold beneath/infront of the bound item.
The rest is completely customisable. You may add things if you wish.
Incense holders are vital, so you don’t get your altar dirty with ash.
Ensure you clean your altar on a daily basis.
Ensure there is no religious paraphernalia of any sort. No crosses. No god/goddess statues. No pentagrams. No bibles or other religious texts.
We are necromancers, we must keep necromancy and religion separated out of respect for the spirits we work with. Pray to the gods away from the altar, keep the altar dedicated to the spirits and the spirits alone.

Basic necromantic summoning ritual

Foreword.
Do not attempt this ritual until you have completed this checklist.
* Made and maintained a spirit altar long enough to communicate actively with the spirits it was made for.
* Slept along side the dead.

You have now summoned a spirit. You have officially become a necromancer. You are on a road to vast power and endless knowledge. Never forget. Behind all candles and incense it was YOU who summoned the spirit. If the ritual did not work, it was for one of four reasons.
1. Your intentions where not pure.
2. You lack the experience to summon the spirit.
3. You did not do as instructed.
4. You are weak.
Find which one of the following caused the problem and fix it.
